Our History

Community Christian Church of Christ began not as a part of central leadership but as autonomous. It is part of a fellowship of independent churches within Christianity known as the Restoration Movement.

How It All Began

In 1967, two families put an ad in the local newspaper inviting Christians to worship with them in their homes. Meanwhile, some members of local churches did not like the direction in which their church was headed.

These two groups got together and this was the beginning of Community Christian Church of Christ  in Richlands, North Carolina. Community Christian Church of Christ was chartered in 1967 with 25 members.

At first, church members gathered in each others' homes to worship. A building was later rented from the Howard family in Richlands, North Carolina to hold worship services.  This building was used for that purpose until the purchase of the property at the corner of Hargett and Academy St.  The property was previously owned by First Baptist Church and had sat vacant.  In 1971, the property became known as the home of Community Christian Church of Christ.

As Time Moved On

In 1982, 40 members decided with the full support and assistance of Community Christian Church of Christ to establish Jacksonville Christian Church. Then, in February of 2011, the congregation of approximately 150 members moved into a new facility located at 222 Richlands Loop Rd.
